“I Want a Referendum” - New cross-party campaign releases cinema ads and launches national network
“I Want a Referendum” – a new cross party campaign for a vote on the EU’s Constitutional Treaty – will launch on Thursday 6 September.
The advisory group to the new campaign will include members of all the main parties: Derek Scott (chair); Graham Stringer MP; Gisela Stuart MP; Mike Hancock MP; Frank Field MP; Kate Hoey MP; Michael Gove MP; David Heathcoat Amory MP; Greg Hands MP; and Nick Herbert MP.
A photo call and press conference will be held at 11 AM on Thursday 6 September at Victoria Tower Gardens, next to Parliament, just off Millbank. Several of the IWR advisory group will be available for interview.
I Want a Referendum will be launching a new cinema advert later this month making the case for a referendum. In its initial phase the advert will be seen by one million people. The advert can be viewed here:

I Want a Referendum Chairman Derek Scott said:
“In the coming months we will be increasing the pressure on the Government not to break its promise to hold a referendum on the Constitutional Treaty. We will be building a broad-based campaign in every part of the country.”
Gisela Stuart MP said:
“This is an issue of trust. We were elected on the promise of a referendum. If we are serious about restoring trust in politics we have to keep our promise and give people a say on this important decision.”
Greg Hands MP said:
“People don’t want to give even more power to the EU – at least not without fundamental change first. Pretty much every other EU leader admits that the new version of the treaty is essentially the same as the original EU Constitution, on which we were promised a referendum.”
Mike Hancock MP said:
“We promised the public a referendum. If the public can’t trust politicians on this, how can they trust us on anything else?”
